Questions and Doubts

Where can you hide your child to protect them from the wrong influence of the world and the lies of Satan? The answer is you cannot.

You may send your child to a “Private School” but that only protects them for a little while. Sooner or later they will encounter the untruths that pass as truth. So parent, how do you protect your child?

Is there a conflict between the “Word of God” and pure or true science? For many people this is only one of several questions raised in the public forum, and which will confront your children and grandchildren.

Here are a number of questions that are said to puzzle your children and grandchildren and for which they need be prepared to respond or they may be lead away from Christ Jesus.

  • How do you know the Bible is true?
  • Hasn’t science disproved the Bible?
  • Is the world is millions of years old?
  • What about carbon dating?
  • How did Noah get the animals on the ark?
  • Do changes in the animal kingdom prove evolution?
  • How come there are so many races if Adam was real?
  • How can you explain dinosaurs?
  • Where is the evidence for a global flood?
  • How can you believe in a loving God when there is so much suffering and death?

This list is certainly not exhaustive, and I am certain that you could add more concerns. But what is important is that we teach the young of the Church to be ready to face the
questions and challenges that come before them without losing faith and trust in Christ Jesus.

Let us begin with a word from Holy Scripture! “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope
that is in you, with meekness and fear;” 1 Pet 3:15 (NKJ)

First: We must provide the youth of the Church with knowledge of what the Scriptures actually teach, that it is not just a book of “old stories.”

Second: We must provide them with a knowledge and understanding of real science, and real truth!

Third: We must find new ways to communicate the same old truth of God’s Word that resonates to the children of today. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and
expecting a different result!” Anonymous

Fourth:
Parents, and grandparents, teachers and congregational members, as well as Pastors must be able to communicate these two essentials:
    1. Defend the Word!
    2. Live the Word!

The Church needs to confront our hedonistic and self-saving culture head on. We must do this in a spirit of gentleness and peace. But every child of God must be both equipped and supported for this task. May God bless Grace Lutheran Church and School in this mission.

I remain His servant and yours,

Pastor Froh
